More than just merrymaking and gift giving, the holidays is
that special time of the year where excess and extravagance seem to find its
place in just about every home. All around the city, holiday ornaments sparkle
and shine from every street corner and home rivaling the stars in the night’s
sky.
But along with the festive feel of the season, the holidays
bring with it a sense of fantasy—evident in our bedecked homes and even in the
way we dress. When it comes to holiday dressing, fashion takes on a more
luxurious, glamorous, and fantastic persona that can only be pulled off with a
lot of confidence and imagination.
Taking holiday dressing to a whole new level, Metro and
Metro Society are set to stage Metrowear Fantasy, the first holiday fantasy
haute couture show that will showcase the couture collections of four of the
Philippine fashion’s new wave of couture designers.
Inspired by famous themes and figures of the holiday season,
designers Martin Bautista, Joel Escober, John Herrera, and Mak Tumang bring to
life fantastic iconic holiday imagery by way of their beautiful clothing
creations. Witness their extravagant couture interpretations of The Nutcracker,
Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Snow Queen, and 12 Days of Christmas. The
designers’ mentors namely Rajo Laurel, Noel Crisostomo, Cary Santiago, and
Frederick Peralta will also be in attendance.
